New findings reveal first-time buyers are looking to intermediaries to assist them getting a mortgage and find the best deal.
According to figures from the CML, the number of first-time buyers using an intermediary has increased to 83% in the first 3 months of 2008, 10% higher than in the first 3 months of 2007.
The findings also show that intermediaries are now responsible for 78% of all remortgages - up 10% on the same period in 2007.
These findings are released as the government announces measures to assist first-time buyers to get on the property ladder through shared equity schemes.
Many buyers are still worried that the housing market is too expensive to enter.
